About Red Light Jazz
Red Light Jazz is a multi-day music festival in the heart of Amsterdam. Since its first edition in 2014, the festival has developed into a unique event that brings together Amsterdammers and visitors from home and abroad to enjoy the lively sounds of jazz music together in the old city center.
Red Light Jazz combines the best of traditional and modern jazz with the unique atmosphere in the oldest part of town where jazz was introduced by American sailors in the 1920s and 1930s. The festival is not only a tribute to the style of music that has its roots in the blues, but also to the Red Light District, a neighborhood with a rich culture and history. Intimate venues, ranging from historic cafes and small theaters to special outdoor spaces, make for an unforgettable experience.
The festival is open to both seasoned jazz lovers and those looking to discover the music for the first time. From swinging big bands to intimate solo concerts, the program offers something for everyone. In addition to the live performances, there are often workshops, lectures and other activities that allow visitors to dive deeper into the world of jazz.
